Starved of Love

The Story

David and Sarah Mercer leave their daughter Lucy in the countryside with grandmother Patricia and uncle Caleb. Patricia favors her grandson Ethan, brutally starving Lucy and draining her allowance for Ethan’s lavish birthday party. When Lucy is left outside in freezing weather, she catches a high fever. Patricia denies her medical care, and the child dies. Patricia and Caleb try to cover up the tragedy by framing a neighbor and bribing the village doctor. A city doctor eventually exposes the truth. David severs all ties with his mother. He leaves the site of the tragedy with his wife, both haunted by the guilt of what happened.
