The Story

Tamsin Rowe faces the town’s enduring hatred after a decade of silence. Ten years ago, her best friend Blythe died by suicide following an assault, and the community blames Tamsin for protecting the attacker. Now isolated and dying, she has refused to reveal the name everyone demands. Imogen, once her closest friend, returns as the country’s richest woman and forces Tamsin into a public Memory Trial. This device, originally designed for death-row criminals, extracts memories that are broadcast to the entire world. As the proceedings begin, Tamsin begs Imogen to stop the extraction. The process threatens to expose secrets that can never be buried again.
