Two Wives, Two Divorces

The Story

Harper brothers face sudden shock when their wives serve them divorce papers after a catastrophic night. The narrator, seven months pregnant, and her best friend Leah married the two men, choosing the fire captain and the famous surgeon respectively. During their anniversary, the captain’s first love locks the narrator in a room while a fire breaks out upstairs. Trapped and calling for help, she receives a cold dismissal from her husband, who claims she is faking the emergency to protect a cat. Leah breaks the door to save her, but her surgeon husband also refuses to assist, prioritizing the cat’s minor injury over the women’s distress. The narrator loses her baby, and the sight of the doctor handling the infant breaks her spirit. Leah promises to leave alongside her, declaring the men unworthy of their tears. The brothers panic upon receiving the legal documents, realizing the depth of the betrayal and the finality of their wives’ decision to walk away from their lives with them.
