Two Wives, Two Divorces
The Story
Seven months pregnant and trapped in a locked room as fire consumes the building, I call my husband Karim for help. He ignores my pleas to save a cat instead. I turn to my best friend Layla, who begs her husband Omar, a famous doctor, to treat me. He refuses, claiming he is too busy. Layla eventually saves me from the flames, but I lose the baby. The betrayal is absolute. We are both filing for divorce, cutting the Al-Harith brothers out of our lives for good. Karim is the fire chief, and Omar is the renowned physician, yet they both chose their own interests over my survival. As the divorce papers arrive, panic finally sets in for them. We no longer need their protection or their lies. The marriage is over, and so is our dependence on them. We walk away from the Al-Harith family without looking back, leaving their chaos behind.
