The Story

A dying wish from her mother sets Avery Hart on a path of retribution while she is six months pregnant. Grief-stricken, she watches as her husband Ethan Cross and his mother Martha Cross reveal their cruel nature. They boss her around, force her to cook, and boil the last dumplings her late mother ever made. Avery demands a divorce, but Ethan refuses and Martha strikes her. To settle a loan shark debt, the family forces Avery to transfer her house. She feigns agreement and gathers recorded evidence to sue Martha’s family. Ethan loses his job and attempts to exact revenge on Avery. He is ultimately arrested and jailed.
